Public Commitment to Child Safety
Gellibrand Crescent Kindergarten and the Northern Darebin Combined Kindergarten Association (NDCKA) are dedicated to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people in our services and programs. We have zero tolerance for any form of child abuse and are committed to complying with the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
Our commitment includes:
- Ensuring the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
- Promoting the cultural safety of children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Ensuring the safety of children with disabilities.
- Supporting the safety and rights of trans and gender diverse children and their families in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) settings.
- Creating an inclusive environment for LGBTIQ+ children and families.
- Valuing, respecting, and caring for all children.
- Providing opportunities for children to participate, express their views, and develop.
- Acting in the best interests of each child with zero tolerance for child abuse.
- Taking all reasonable steps to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of children while promoting their learning and development.
- Actively managing risks of abuse or harm, fulfilling our duty of care and legal obligations to protect children and prevent foreseeable risks of injury or harm.
- Continuously improving our methods for identifying and responding to child abuse and reporting on our responses to allegations.
- Proactively sharing information with relevant authorities to promote the wellbeing and safety of children, consistent with their best interests.
